Roles on project: Art Director, Designer
Anarchic Hand is an album made almost entirely of first takes and jams—layers of sound collaged together over ten years. The music is immediate, contradictory, restless.
The challenge for the art direction: How do we visualize a hand that
is both working with and against itself, while remaining visually bold and memorable?
We decided on a single, striking key image: a hand immediately recognizable as a contorted and conflicted construction—part deliberate, part involuntary.
Anarchic Hand — Key Art
Our key art needed to reflect the core conceit of the album and work as a visual connection to album title.
Anarchic Hand — Title Treatment
In addition to our key art, we created a custom lettering treatment for the album title, playing off the same themes of change and conflict. Repeated letters shift drastically and subtly, parameters are set then abandoned.
